Lama Calvi, Ile Rousse, Balagne
Villages | Lama | Corsica
Built like an eagle's nest overlooking the valley, the village of Lama, between sea and mountain, emerges at the foot of a watchtower.
For over three hundred years from the sixteenth to the late twentieth century, the village has built its reputation around olive growing. After decades of neglect of this culture, we can now enjoy again the flavors of this exceptional olive oil known for its high quality and its particular taste. Note: to buy in the village shop, near the church square. Composed of two different styles of architecture, this village is a gentle mixture of medieval houses and "affirmation architectures" in the form of mansions Tuscan-inspired, built in the eighteenth century. Lama also attracts many visitors and personalities thanks to its European Film Festival, which takes place every year in late July.
