Natural sites | Corsica
The Biguglia mere is an 11km long laguna located south of Bastia, along the Thyrenian sea and the beaches of the “Lido de la Marana”.
The fort reflects the high activities of the past, including occupation by the Romans, then by the Pisans, and finally by the Genoese. This heritage is now the museum of the nature reserve of Biguglia. The site has a major ecological interest for flora or migration of birds among which egrets, cormorants, flamingos . Only commercial fishing is authorized and hunting is highly regulated.
